This release adds support for the MIPS64 architecture.

Moreover, the release comprises the following changes and new features:

  • L4Linux has been updated to L4Linux-4.7 (r54)

This release adds support for Imagination Technologies’ MIPS architecture, including support for MIPS’ virtualization architecture VZ to run virtual machines. The userspace virtual machine monitor supports running Linux guests. MIPS support for the L4Re system is currently available for MIPS32; MIPS64 is about to follow. The MIPS port is supported by Imagination Technologies.

Moreover, the release comprises the following changes and new features:

  • Conversion of the debugging interface to a capability-based interface. To use JDB functionality user programs need to possess the ‘jdb’ capability.

    • Ci20
    • Baikal-T
  • The vCPU data structures have been revised in an ABI visible way.
  • Added a re-attach call to allow for atomic detach/attach of IRQs without loosing interrupts
  • A new portable virtual machine monitor called ‘uvmm’ with support for ARM and MIPS virtualization technology
  • A virtio-based peer-to-peer network component called ‘virtio-net’
  • L4Linux has been updated to L4Linux-4.6 (r52)
  • Updates of 3rd party libraries
  • Documentation improvements
